Eye Care

At Forest Hill Optometry, we have a suite of diagnostic equipment so we can accurately test your eyes and examine them for the presence of eye conditions like glaucoma, cataracts, diabetes and macular degeneration.

Our digital retinal cameras provides high quality images of the front and back of your eyes, so we can show you the health of your eyes and determine whether they are changing.

Our OCT provides high resolution scans of the optic nerve and macula, as well as scans of the front section of your eye. The OCT is the most sensitive technology available for detecting and monitoring glaucoma and macular degeneration.

Our visual field instrument assesses your peripheral vision, and is used in the detection of glaucoma and neurological conditions. For those who need visual assessments for VICRoads, it provides the information needed to determine your ability to meet legal driving requirements.

We include many of these tests as standard in our comprehensive eye examination, however the OCT scan is not included and will attract a small fee.

Your optometrist will discuss with you whether this test is recommended, depending on your age and the results of your standard eye test.

We feel that the OCT is essential for the accurate diagnosis of several sight threatening conditions, and we will recommend it if you are at risk or suspected of having one of them.
